Lingayen-Dagupan Archbishop Oscar Cruz was among the prominent local personalities who had visited the Pangasinan Pasalubong Center.
The archbishop, in fact, sprinkled Holy Water and prayed for the center’s success and safety.
After the short ceremony, the archbishop inspected the indigenous products on display and was amazed at one point that Pangasinan also produces woodcarvings.
The Pangasinan Pasalubong Center had its soft opening only last month and it has been drawing tourists going to and coming from Northern Luzon provinces.
Engr. Rosendo So, chair of the Abono Paty-list, the main proponent of the project, said that he envisions a regional pasalubong center, where indigenous products of all towns in the Ilocos Region will be displayed.
Among the amenities of the center is a clean restroom, wide parking space and, soon, a wi-fi Internet connection.
Among the most sought after products to date are the Calasiao puto, boneless Bonuan bangus and Lingayen bagoong.
